Directions to The Big Events

There are two ways to get to Egg Harbor/Bailey's Harbor.  The expressway route via Green Bay is a bit faster though certainly less scenic than the alternative- County S along the Lake Michigan shore.  Either way you will need to make it about an hour past Milwaukee, so there is plenty of time to decide.  If you've never been to Door County, certainly consider the Scenic Route- it's not that much longer and much more memorable.  If it's late, or weather is an issue, stick with the Green Bay route.

Chicago - Milwaukee
91 Miles

I-94 North to 294-North to the Milwaukee.  This is the easy part.

If you're coming into O'Hare- just take I-294 North, it turns into I-94.

I-94 is also called Route 41 after the merge.

Milwaukee - Milwaukee
A Few
Miles
Pay special attention during your trip through Milwaukee.  You're aiming for Green Bay via I-43.  If you're flying into Milwaukee, the airport is South of town so this leg applies to you.

Milwaukee - Manitowoc
75 Miles
Point it North and go.  There is only one Bump in the road and it's called Port Washington.  They didn't invent the radar gun here, they perfected it-
SLOW DOWN HERE.
Here is where the Green Bay route splits from the Scenic Route.  If you're taking the Scenic route, you'll exit at the SECOND MANITOWOC EXIT #153.  If you're going via Green Bay then Stay on I-43 North.

You're looking for Highway 57 leading to Sturgeon Bay.  It's the second or third exit in Green Bay.  Turn right
Algoma - Sturgeon Bay
20 Miles? I never counted...
When you get to Algoma, you're going to turn right on County S.  This will continue along the Lake Michigan Shore and rejoin Highway 42 in Sturgeon Bay.

Everything going well, you should be in Sturgeon Bay, and the following direcions should get where you're going from there.

What's Where In Door County
The Town of Egg Harbor
"Egg" is relatively easy to get to.  Once you've crossed the bridge in Sturgeon Bay, just stay in State Highway 42 until you get there.  This is easier said than done if your middle name is "Antiques" or "Jams and Jellies" or "Winery".

The Church of Saint John The Baptist
7710 State Highway 42
Egg Harbor, Wi. 54209

The Church is on the right side of the road before you enter the town of Egg Harbor.

The Church to The Braes

You should be taking the bus.

From the church, head north a half-mile to County E.  Turn right on county E and go 7.6 miles.

There's a jog in the road so you'll have to do a right-left thingy.  After the jog you'll cross over Kangaroo Lake, the largest inland lake in Door County.  Take care that you don't end up in it.

The road will end at County 57.  Turn right and if you're not careful you'll drive right past the entrance and you'll have to turn around and try again.

The Landmark Resort
7643 Hillside Road
Egg Harbor, Wi. 54209
(800) 273-7877

Leaving Sturgeon Bay stay on State Highway 42 until you see the Landmark Signs.  You may elect to follow the signs, or you can do it like the locals...
Drive almost into Egg Harbor.  Just outside of town you'll see County T on the right, and the Indian Trading Post on the left.  Turn Left here on South Trail and drive to the stop sign- a half-mile or so.  Turn left (Go up the hill) on Hillside Drive and look for the Landmark a half-mile ahead.

The Maxwelton Braes
'eer Bonnie!
The Braes are best reached from Sturgeon Bay by taking State Highway 57 up the East coast of the peninsula.  It's 16.5 miles down 57 to the Braes.  The entrance is not well marked, but you'll see the golf course. If you miss the turn, Bailey's Harbor is a nice place for a drink.
